FAQs – Upgrades & Downgrades
1. Can I upgrade my membership?
Yes, if the membership doesn't have a waitlist. Upgrades can take effect immediately.
You’ll get access to your new membership right away.
You’ll be charged a pro-rata payment for the difference in price from the date you upgrade.
Example: If you’re on Gymnasium Anytime (£165 Wandsworth) and upgrade mid-month to Gymnasium Plus Anytime (£215), you’ll pay a one-off pro-rata amount for the remainder of that month, then £215 from the 1st of the next month.
Or you can upgrade at the next billing date (1st) and you'll be charged in full on that date.
2. Can I downgrade my membership?
Yes — downgrades usually take effect from your next billing date (1st of the month).
If your downgrade request is made before the 1st, your new membership and billing will start from that date.
If it’s made after the 1st, your current payment will stand for that month, and a credit will be applied to your account for the difference (used against your next payment).
3. Can I temporarily downgrade for holidays or travel?
Yes — many members choose a “holiday downgrade” to the cheapest option while they’re away.
Members just need to let Member Support know prior to their next bill that would like to downgrade temporarily
We will upgrade you to your normal membership from your return date.
4. What happens if I want to upgrade again after downgrading?
Upgrades can be applied when your membership is active and if there is membership availability (see Waitlists). Member Support will always let you know what memberships are available.
5. Can I switch to any membership type?
Usually, yes — but:
Some memberships are waitlisted (e.g., Brixton Plus Anytime). In that case, you can join the waitlist, and we’ll contact you when a space is free.
CrossFit memberships - require prior CrossFit experience or completion of our Intro to CrossFit, which runs once a month.
Fixed-term memberships (e.g., 3-month upfront) can only be changed to another fixed-term membership.
6. What if my membership type is full?
If the membership you want is waitlisted, you can:
Stay on your current plan while on the waitlist.
Move to a different available membership in the meantime. We’ll offer waitlist spots in order, and you’ll have 48 hours to accept when a space opens.
7. How do I request a change?
Just contact Member Support and let us know what you’d like to switch to.
We’ll confirm the details, explain the billing impact, and send you written confirmation.
Tip: If you’re unsure which membership is right for you, let us know your usual training times — we’ll recommend the best option to fit your schedule and goals.
